Prom will take place on a Friday. This year Prom is on April 19 at Scottish Rite Cathedral and begins at 7 p.m.
“We switched venues from last year, and we had to move it to a Friday mostly because of cost, but venue availability was also a factor,” Mrs. Iana Allen, Prom sponsor, said.
Despite being on a different day, the Prom committee has worked to make sure Prom is still a night to remember with a new, fresh theme of a masquerade ball.
A big concern for many students is having limited time to get ready. With Prom on a Saturday, students had all day to get their outfits worked out and handle any last-minute touches as well as pose for pictures.
Now, students will have a full day of school ahead, and a very small amount of time to leave school, get dressed, take photos, and finally make the trek to downtown Indianapolis for prom.
As an attendee of Prom last year, I liked having all day to get ready and having all of the extra time; however, I am open to prom on a Friday. Prom on a Friday will make the school day fly by and give an extra day on the weekend to sleep-in and hang out with my friends. It will help turn Prom into more of a weekend-long event.
Prom will turn into even more of a fun series of events for seniors, who start on a Friday with Prom, continue into the weekend, and through senior skip-day on Monday.
