Starbucks steals the show this Christmas season

“I like the sugar cookie almond milk latte. I like it because it’s sweet and I really just like the sugar cookie flavor. If I don’t get that, I get a strawberry acai lemonade with light ice,” junior Kendyl Farmer said.

Coffee places like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and 7 Brew are popular places to get drinks all year round. According to students, Starbucks takes the lead with the best drinks.

“My favorite drink is a chai tea latte. I also really like the gingerbread chai tea latte as well. When it is not the holiday season though, I also enjoy an iced matcha with two pumps of vanilla and add vanilla cold foam. I add those because if I do not it tastes like grass,” junior Grace McDaniels said.

Starbucks offers 12 different syrups.They also offer five inclusions like dried strawberries and dragon fruit.

“I like the white chocolate mocha cold brew. I also really like the peppermint cold brew too. I go to Starbucks often, and if I don’t get either of those drinks, I just get a normal cold brew. Sometimes, I even add vanilla to make it a vanilla cold brew,”Mr.Ben Sutton, counselor, said.

Trying new things might be scary but when it comes to coffee it’s a different story.

“My favorite place to get coffee is Fresh Pots on Main St. They’re always changing up their menu, and all the drinks are really good. I love how it’s decorated there; I even took senior photos inside. My favorite drink is called the Cousin Eddie. It is an eggnog latte topped with nutmeg. But when it’s not the holiday season, I enjoy either a vanilla iced latte or a lavender iced latte,” senior Lucia Agresta said.

Students often have their own opinions on whether local coffee shops are better than chain-restaurants. Most would rather go to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts than a locally owned coffee shop.

“My go to order during the holiday season is definitely the gingerbread oat milk chai tea latte. It’s my absolute favorite, and I get it everytime I go. When it’s not the holiday season, though,I get a caramel macchiato because they are simple but yet amazing. I get these drinks at Starbucks. I typically only go here because they have the most options and everything I order from there is really good,” sophomore Paige Glynn said.
