MidState on horizon for cross country

The MidState Conference cross country meet is tomorrow at 9 a.m, and the schools include Mooresville, Martinsville, Franklin, Whiteland, Decatur Central, and Perry Meridian.

The Woodmen have started off the season with an explosion of great times and PRs

“The season could not have started any better. Most of our runners have already passed their personal (PR) times, and our numbers as a whole are decreasing at every meet. We are looking very good for the Mid State conference meet. Last year at Mid State, I think we did pretty well. The team did excellent, and we got sixth place overall, “sophomore Sam Grimes said.

Senior Hunter Geloff also talked about the team’s start.

“As a team we started off better than expected. We had a few runners run under 17 minutes, and we came in second at our first meet of the season,” Geloff said.

Senior Selena Pinon gave some incite on the young talent that may help the team in competition at Mooresville.

“I have high hopes for our girls team and just the whole team. We have some really good freshmen and sophomores and then some really good girls at the middle school level. Hopefully, the girls can step up and help us advance to Sectionals and Regionals as a team,” she said.

Junior Lily Hommelltalked about teams that may give the Woodmen a run for their money.

“Some key teams are definitely going to be Franklin Community and Whiteland. They have always been good, but we have high hopes to beat them this year and place good in the Mid State meet,” Hommell said.
