Last season, the girls soccer team posted a .500 record of 7-7. The girls are looking to improve off of that with a coaching change and a good summer season winning five out of the seven friendly scrimmages.

Emily Metzger ,senior center mid, talked about her expectations for the team this season.

“For this season, it is a personal goal as well as a team goal that we change that 7-7 into a winning record. We are hoping to piggyback on what we did last year as well as the summer season and turn this season into a winning year. We also have set a goal as a team to be at least third in the Mid-State Conference,” Metzger said.

Metzger also discussed the team’s plan for success.

“I think this year our team will have significantly more success than last year because of our new coach, Coach Appelbaum. He has instilled a lot of determination in us, a lot more than we have had in previous years. He has also continuously pushed us to become better players and come together as a team. The hard work we went through during the spring and summer workouts will help us have a winning season,” she said.

The girls are closer as a team than ever.

“We are like a family. Our team chemistry is at an all-time high. We all try to hold each other accountable to become the best we can, and we all just love soccer and each other. Coach Appelbaum also is a big reason why team morale is up so high; he wants us to do as many team bonding activities as we can, and those activities have made us better friends and better teammates,”  Josie Ochsner, senior defensive mid said.
